The Taiwanese manufacturers want to prove once again that they make no discrimination when it comes to their smartphones and would be just as happy to sell them to men and women. They've announced the imminent release of two new smartphones, codenames Runnymede and Bliss, and they've made it clear that the latter was designed with the ladies in mind.

In a world where phones get bigger every day, HTC feels that women will appreciate a chic devise of modest proportions, and so HTC Bliss came to be. With a 3.7 inch display and a 5 megapixel camera, it is more than enough for what girls want from a smartphone and the price will also act as an incentive. Instead of cramming super powerful components inside, HTC decided to keep it simple and just fast enough not to trigger any complains. The Charm Indicator is an innovative accessory that will make this smartphone even more attractive for the girls, but we have to wait for the actual release to learn more.

HTC assumes that men are more tech savvy, and that they expect increasingly powerful devices, which is exactly what Runnymede is supposed to be. Powered by a dual core 1,5 GHz processor and 768 MB of RAM, this will join the pack of speed demons that will be fighting for supremacy before the end of the year. Since the competition is so proud about their Super AMOLED displays, this smartphone will feature a massive 4.7 inch display, which confirms the trend.

For all this raw power and distinction, we will have to make a considerable contribution to the Taiwanese company's budget. The estimates show that HTC Runnymede will cost around $800, depending on the memory card, but we'll surely have some generous discounts if we settle with a two-year agreement.
