It is too early to say when will the first tablet running on Windows 8 will actually hit the stores and how different will be compared with what we see today. What is certain is that Microsoft has come up with an operating system that should run smoothly on any device. The transition from Windows 7 to 8 on a PC will not be a problem, but everyone is interested in knowing how will it perform on a tablet.

windows_8_tabletMicrosoft's prototype is encouraging, and the 11.6 inch tablet manufactured by Samsung is powered by an Inter Core i5 processor, has 4GB of RAM a screen resolution of 1366 x 768 and 64 GB of storage space. Additionally, it will come fitted with a keyboard, stylus pen and a doc, so you can also install a mouse if you like to make it look more like a desktop. Overall, this promises to be a fast device that boots in only a few seconds and will have a longer battery life than all its competitors.

What really interests the audience is how the operating system performs on a tablet, and the first impression is positive, with the user being able to choose between the Desktop and Metro version. The first looks and feels exactly the same as Windows 7 and users will waste no time learning how to fully harness its power. Metro interface is more suiting for a tablet and with the touchscreen covering its entire front, this mode is easier to use, and it also looks great.
The transition between these two sides of the operating system is smooth and the apps will run just as well on both, so it is up to you to choose the most appropriate one. Those who are more conservative can add a keyboard and mouse and replicate a laptop's experience, while enjoying the enhanced mobility.
