We've waited for so long for the Droid Bionic that now when we can finally purchase it, we have mixed feelings about placing the order. This smartphone is every bit as good as it promised to be and the ones who expected it to outshine the previous droids will be thrilled. It comes on time to hit the stores before iPhone 5, yet most of those who saved money for the ultimate smartphone will probably wait a bit longer before buying one.
Powered by a dual-core 1GHz processor and running on the latest Gingerbread, Droid Bionic is fast enough to run everything smoothly and to compete with the other speed demons. The problem is that Samsung's Galaxy S 2 is even faster and the rumour of a new smartphone featuring 1.5 GHz dual core CPUs is intimidating. Speaking of the rivalry with the Korean manufacturer, Droid's qHD display is almost as good, being 4.3 inches wide and offering perfect viewing angles. The colours lack the depth and density of the Super AMOLED, but they are still amazing and represent a giant leap forward for Motorola.
Another major improvement is the 8 megapixel camera, now shooting at 1080p and the quality is vastly superior. There are still some focus problems to be dealt with, but this is not a valid reason to choose any other smartphone over the Droid Bionic. You can also purchase various accessories for this gadget, including navigation, laptop and standard docks.
Ultimately, Motorola's latest release should be more than satisfying for all the fan boys, but just as intriguing for anyone who appreciates a top-quality smartphone. The price is a bit steep at $300 with a two-year plan, but then again, all the new phones are expensive, and if you want a major upgrade, you should be ready to pay for it.
